The RSPB nature reserve Frampton Marsh near Boston is situated on one of the best wetlands in Europe called "The Wash" The Wash is the largest estuarine wetland site in the UK with the largest population of waders and wildfowl in the country.

RSPB Frampton Marsh and Freiston Shore nature reserves sit either side of the tidal Haven where the River Witham meets the Wash.

Across the Wash in Norfolk part of the Titchwell reserve is being allowed to flood and Frampton Marsh which covers 922 acres has been developed to compensate and provide an alternative habitat for may birds including the avocet.

Frampton Marsh nature reserve has one of the largest saltmarshes in the world with three hides, a visitor centre and free car parking. The Wash trail is a 2.2 mile circular trail taking you to all three hides and allowing you to look out over the salt marshes, for birds of prey such as peregrines, hen harriers and merlins. The Reedbed trial which is a 1.2 mile circular walk from the visitor centre and is accessible for wheelchair users.
