At Elms Farm Cottages we
are committed to providing suitable access for all our guests. All
cottages are ground floor with wheelchair friendly level access
terraces and pathways.
We have two shallow paved ramps with handrails, one to the laundry room
and one leading to the main courtyard area. Low thresholds prevail in
every entrance door including the laundry room. A public coin-operated
payphone is also available in the laundry room.
There are four holiday cottages with level non-slip floors for the
shower rooms (wet rooms without a shower tray) together with grab rails
and height-adjustable wash basins, height-adjustable shower seats and
shower heads. All these shower /wet rooms have a full spec Doc M pack
toilet and grab rails.
A portable personal audible alarm is available for guests together with
blocks to increase the height of dressing tables. Wardrobe hanging
rails can be lowered, and bedroom furniture can be moved when required.
Further facilities for the less mobile guest are now offered with the
use of a perching stool in the kitchen, a bath seat, a bath step, a
shower chair, a wheeled shower chair, a cot side, a personal alarm, and
dressing table risers. Most of these items can now be reserved on the
booking form.
In the dining area, the dining table has a cut-out at one end for
wheelchair access. All televisions have teletext and subtitle
capabilities.
Please advise us upon arrival if you will need assistance in the
unlikely event of a fire. All guests should evacuate to the car park
area or to the grassed area next to the car park. On no account must
people remain in the central courtyard.
Carol has attended Welcome Host, Welcome All and Welcome Host Plus
training and should be able to assist with any guest queries. We
do allow service dogs without extra charge, as long as they are kept on
a lead at all times.
A scaled plan view of each holiday cottage is now available so
that prospective guests can assess which cottage will best suit their
needs. A comprehensive list of the height of each cottages' electric
points, door handles, bed height and other measurements are available
either on request, or by clicking on the 'tape measure' icon on this
webpage.
On an annual basis we examine how our cottages compare against the
requirements of the National Accessible Scheme by completing a self
survey report for mobility, hearing and vision.
